There is one harvest that I look forward to every year. It’s not just a day of harvesting; it’s a time when people who have chosen to feel part of this place return to the vineyard. It is the harvest of the adopters, and it will be an even more special occasion this year. Never before have I had so many rows adopted at the same time. We reached 26.
Twenty-six rows, each representing a story: people, families, and groups of friends who have decided to follow the work in the vineyard more closely, learn about what happens during the seasons, and spend a few days with us in the vineyard.
We met in June after a very dry spring, by which time we had already started watering the small grafted vines that had been planted in the winter. Since then, many things have happened: there has been heat, rain — which has finally arrived — and, unfortunately, hail. The most anticipated moment has finally arrived: it’s time to harvest the grapes together.
The harvest of adopters is scheduled for the last weekend in September. As always, Matteo and Nicola will be by my side, and most importantly, so will the adopters, who are ready to grab the scissors and experience the most important moment of the year in the vineyard.
But those who have been with us before know: work is only a part of the day. There will be time to get together, ask questions, share what has happened in the vineyard this year, learn something new, and, of course enjoy a few glasses of wine in good company.
After all, that’s what adopting a row is all about. It’s much more than just putting your name on a few vines; it’s about forming a connection with the vineyard, the wine, and the people who work there.
There will be more of us this year than ever before. Seeing 26 adopted rows makes me think that, harvest after harvest, this small community is becoming more and more beautiful.
All we need now are some scissors, a few crates, and a thirst to quench.
