One thing is certain: you never get bored in the countryside, especially in recent years! Following a very dry winter, with only 15 days of temperatures below zero around New Year and little rainfall, fortunately there were no late frosts in the spring that would have compromised production.
Good rainfall and high average temperatures in April caused the vegetation to grow quickly. This continued in May, when we recorded the highest average temperatures ever for this period. The vines continued to grow at full speed, with vegetative progress 10 days ahead of average due to wet soil and very high temperatures.
Unfortunately, the area’s vineyards were hit by a severe storm on the afternoon of 2 June. Heavy hail and strong winds caused damage amounting to up to 50%. We treated the wounds suffered by the leaves and bunches immediately after the hail. We are now optimistic about the rest of the year.
